PEOPLE

Our team is made up of a group of people from several disciplines. This allows us to combine different points of view and generate new ideas with an important perspective of reality and application.

Patricia Pérez-Fuster

I graduated in Psychology in 2008. Currently I am studying the Doctoral Programme Research in Psychology and a Master called Methodology of Health and Behavioural Sciences.

I joint this research group at the beginning of 2012. My role consists of designing and implementing the most accurate research strategies to measure the efficacy of the technologies we develop for the improvement of the quality of life of people with autism. This is how we provide scientific quality to the work we heartily develop.

Angel Fraile Griñán

I am a Computer Engineer from the University of Valencia and I am working in the “Autism and Learning Difficulties Group” since February of 2009. I have been working in different 3D graphics projects until this moment, and now I am involved in the “Inclusive Contents Project” within the group.

In fact I do not know many things about autism, I am trying to learn as fast as possible and I like the idea that my work helps people with autism in their every day activities.

Ruben Fernandez

Since majoring in software engineering in 1996, I have worked in telecommunications, the internet and multimedia, in Venezuela at first and, from 2001 onwards, in Spain.

I have been working in organizations that provide support to people with disabilities since 2004, joining the autism group in 2008.

Raquel Abellan Royuela

I graduated in Pedagogy at the University of Valencia and am currently a student at the third stage (doctorate). I work in the pedagogic line of the autism Group. My specialisation is orientated in the philosophy of Planning that is Focused on the Person, although I do other pedagogic tasks within the Group. I carry out collaborations, interventions and outings with people who have disability and I keep in contact with the social reality of the world of disability, specifically in the area of autism.

Fabian Amati

Schoolteacher, systems analyst, graduated in education technology…being passionate about the theme of autism, I had the good fortune that “life led me” to investigate this topic. The things I have done have ranged from a border teaching post, a teacher in private and comprehensive schools of special education and being a teacher trainer in Argentina to being an investigator in Valencia, Spain. I have my heart set on “my southern land”, on “my beloved Buenos Aires” and on “the mother country”, Spain.

Cristina Campillo Costoya

I graduated in psychology and physiotherapy and I am currently doing my doctorate. I have worked with children with learning difficulties and disability and this has enabled me to learn to understand them, put myself in their shoes and use aids and strategies that make comprehension and communication easier for them. My work in the autism group is focused on carrying out experimental studies of the technological tools designed by the team in order to be able to evaluate the results when applied to people with autism and/or learning difficulties in a scientific way. It means one step more in our objective to create useful technological ways to help in order to improve their quality of life.

Arturo Campos Zurriaga

I am a senior technical engineer specialised in telecommunications. I joined the Group of Autism and Learning Difficulties in January 2007 and since then I have been working as a programmer of applications for mobile devices. Programming is something that I have always liked and, when I finished my studies, programming was one of the skills that I wanted to continue developing (and still want to develop more). I am currently working on the Azahar project, to which I have been assigned since I came to the group; and during the last two months I have been working on the SLSMS project.

Xavier Casas

I am a computer engineer who graduated at the University of Valencia and I am particularly interested in everything related to interactive graphs in both 2 and 3 dimensions.

I have had the honour of forming part of this fantastic group since 2005 and up to now I have been participating in beautiful and interesting projects such as “A picture is better than a thousand words” or “Contemplating support”, thanks to which I am learning a lot about a field that we all ought to know a bit better.

Gerardo Herrera Gutiérrez

Together with my colleagues I have been working since 1998 so that individuals with autism and learning difficulties can have the technical supports that allow them to develop their abilities to the maximum and to participate in our society.

Although my original training was on technologies, through the years I have specialised in autism. To this end, I have had two great teachers: my sister Chusi and the Professor Rita Jordan from the University of Birmingham (UK). I have also learnt from professionals and parents of individuals with autism with whom I had the luck of sharing time and experiences.

A dream: being able to put myself in the shoes of someone with autism.

Alejandro Morell García

At present, my work involves the programming of applications for mobile devices and, as you can imagine, I am another of the computer specialists in the group. As well as writing programmes, I also like hardware and electronics.
I have little experience in dealing with people with disability and/or autism but I learn something every day and try to do my bit in order to break the barriers that impede those people from living a more independent life.

Nacho Navarro

At the beginning of 2007 I came to form part of the Autism and Learning Difficulties Group.
My work is that of developing software applications specifically for mobile devices such as PDA, mobile telephones, Q1, etc.
I have participated in the development of several prototypes and projects. I am qualified as a Senior Computer Engineer.

Carlos Pardo Carpio

Since I finished my studies in Fine Arts with the specialisation of audiovisual means, I have been working as a graphic designer in the development of all types of projects: virtual reality, 2d/3d animation, web design and interface design.
In the autism group, I’m in charge of the graphic aspect and usability of the projects that we carry out. I also design the pictograms for those people who need alternative systems of communication. At present, my interest is focused on the study of educational applications and leisure by means of videogames for people with autism and/or intellectual disability. I am also interested in technological art, music, psychology and the fluttering of dragonflies when the sun comes up.

Javier Plaza Roca

I finished my studies on Technical Engineering in Industrial Design in 2005 and, after spending several years wandering from one different type of job to another, I joined the autism group in January 2007, taking over the responsibility of modelling and animation of virtual characters in the AVISTA project and also collaborating in a precise way in the SL-SMS project.

luis Rosa Esribano

I graduated in psychology and am interested in the basic psychological processes of autism as well as everything that is related to alternative communication.

Javier Sevilla

Since the mid 90s, when I obtained my qualification in Computer Engineering, I have been working in all types of technologies related to computing.
I first worked in the world of 3D graphics in real time, in not only low-cost platforms but also in stations and high-performance systems. Those were very good years that I had in the ARTEC group of the University of Valencia.
After that, I worked for several years in iSOCO, which was a rather abrupt change in scenery, in both the technological and the work sense. There I participated in and directed several commercial projects as well as in the innovation of themes such as the use of 3D graphics in the web and the semantic web.
From the beginning of 2005 and up to now I have been in the group, learning about autism whenever I can and participating at the same time in all types of innovation projects in this area in which varied technologies such as the web, mobile devices, wireless networks and 3D graphics are used.
